The Belgian Olympic Academy is an elite training programme organised in collaboration with the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), the University of Ghent and the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC). The aim of this unique course is to professionalise management within sports organisations by drawing on innovative academic and practical approaches to leadership and management skills.

The programme will run for just over a year starting in January 2025. It comprises 5 modules of two to three days (in-house). The modules will take place at various ADEPS and Sport Vlaanderen centres. The training will start at the BOIC and end at the Sportimonium. During the 3-day seminar in Lausanne, we will be the guests of the International Olympic Committee.

A unique course:

  • During the course, teachers and experts in the field will connect you to current management issues, based on the needs of sports organisations. They strike a 50/50 balance between theory and practice.
  • The fact that the modules are residential means that you can combine learning with social activities and networking
  • During a multi-day business "game", participants will work in groups to solve a realistic case, putting all the knowledge they have acquired into practice.
  • The seminar visit to Lausanne will include a tour of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Museum. They will also visit the international federations, the World Anti-Doping Agency and other major bodies in the world of sport.
  • The seminar visit to Papendal gives a unique insight into the workings of the Netherlands Olympic Committee*Netherlands Sports Federation.
  • Participants will complete an end-of-course consultancy project, within their own organisation or another sporting body.
  • The programme counts 30 university credits (ECTS) and ends with the award of a university certificate.
