Press accreditations

As part of the Olympic Games, the BOIC is working with Sportspress.be (the Belgian professional federation of sports journalists) to allocate and inventory press accreditations.

If you are a (sports) journalist or photographer and would like to obtain a press accreditation for the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, please comply with the criteria below.

The following are eligible for press accreditation:

  • Daily and weekly newspaper journalists, provided they are affiliated to Sportspress.be.
  • Freelance journalists and photographers with at least one client recognised by Sportspress.
  • Journalists and photographers working for the magazine of a recognised federation, at the request of that federation.

Accreditations will not be granted to:

  • Representatives of media/websites not recognised by Sportspress.be.
  • Technical staff, managers and other persons accompanying athletes.
  • Press attachés from sports federations.
  • Marketing managers of general news or sports media.

Accreditation requests

All requests for press or photographer accreditation for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games must be submitted by the deadline. Belgian media representatives wishing to apply for press accreditation for Milano Cortina 2026 should contact the BOIC. The first deadline for submitting requests for ‘Press by Number’ accreditation is 7 October 2024. The deadline for submitting requests for ‘Press by Number’ accreditation is 6 February 2025. For ‘Press by Name’ accreditation, the process begins on 9 June 2025, and the deadline for submitting applications for ‘Press by Name’ accreditation is 12 September 2025. No changes will be possible after this date. As a reminder, the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games will take place from 6 February to 22 February 2026.

The inventory of accreditations for the Olympic Games is managed by the BOIC in close collaboration with Sportspress.be. All requests for press accreditations for Milano Cortina 2026 must be made by email to m.devartavan@olympic.be and info@sportspress.be.

Journalists applying after 7 February 2025, or those who did not obtain accreditation in the first phase, will be placed on a waiting list. This waiting list will only be consulted if accreditations become available or if new accreditations are granted to Belgium at a later date.

Television and broadcasters

The BOIC is responsible for accreditation requests from the Belgian press and photographers. The procedure for rights holders is via the OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services) website.

Accreditation requests for non-rights-holding television/radio organisations (ENR) are handled directly by the IOC, on the basis of a proposal from the BOIC for Belgium.

Please note: a new accreditation procedure for non-rights-holding media (radio and television organisations) will be introduced from the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games onwards. Until now, non-rights-holders interested in covering the Olympic Games submitted their accreditation requests directly to the IOC via an online platform. From now on, non-rights-holding Belgian media wishing to cover the Olympic Games will have to apply to the BOIC for ‘ENR’ accreditation. The BOIC will analyse the applications received and send the IOC a list of media to be accredited as a priority.

As previously mentioned, the quota for this category is extremely limited. Consequently, not all non-rights-holding media that apply to the IOC for accreditation will necessarily receive it. Specific deadlines must be respected; the period during which non-rights-holding media can apply to the BOIC will run from 9 October to 8 November 2024. Late applications will not be considered. The BOIC will be informed of the IOC's decision by 16 January 2025 at the latest.
