Olympic medalists are heroes; they inspire future generations of athletes. But the transition to life after elite sport is not easy. For some, it is financially challenging to keep their heads above water. That is why BOIC took the initiative to establish the foundation “SOLIMEDA” – “Solidarity for Medalists.”
The purpose of this foundation is to provide temporary support, in specific situations, to Olympic medalists who find themselves in difficult social or financial circumstances. It ensures the highest level of confidentiality when handling potential applications. The foundation operates independently from BOIC.
The board of directors of SOLIMEDA consists of Roger Moens, Pascal Mertens, Jan Verstuyft, Thierry Zintz, and chair Philip Berben.
