Following the SIGGS project of 2015–2016, the BOIC joined as a project partner in January 2018 in the three-year European POINTS project. POINTS stands for “Single Points of Contact for Sports Integrity.”

The aim of the project is to support Olympic Committees and European and national sports federations on integrity-related topics such as good sports governance or the fight against match-fixing. Within this project, the BOIC will coordinate the Belgian activities.

POINTS is managed by the EOC EU Office. The partner consortium consists of 18 organizations. The BOIC is one of the eleven participating National Olympic Committees, together with the Netherlands, Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Czech Republic, and Slovenia. In addition, three European sports federations (athletics, basketball, and volleyball) are involved, as well as INTERPOL and the Sport & Recreation Alliance UK. The project is officially supported by the IOC as an affiliated partner.

Like the SIGGS project, the POINTS project is officially funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Sport program.

The main instrument of the POINTS project is the “Guidelines for Integrity Contact Points.” These guidelines provide sports organizations with advice on appointing or shaping an integrity contact point. The minimum requirement is that this person acts as the central contact for integrity-related topics within the organization. Further development of this role—such as offering prevention and educational support or actively contributing to case follow-up—is also possible.

The guidelines are available via this website: https://www.sportgovernance-eoceuoffice.eu/post/integrity-in-sport-setting-up-single-points-of-contact-within-sport-organisations-points-project

Federations with questions about the POINTS project or match-fixing can contact Matthias Van Baelen (m.vanbaelen@olympic.be), who has been appointed within the BOIC as the integrity contact point.
